I love dip pen and ink. It's so fine, delicate, and unpredictable — the same reason I love watercolor. You can control both in a way that's very precise and predictable. Or you can let each do its thing. Dip pen sometimes loses ink flow and you get skips in lines. Or sometimes there's too much ink and you get a random blob. Watercolor wants to flow out, it wants to blend. Does the line come first? Maybe — or maybe the watercolor goes down first and the dip pen finds its lines around that. Some of these pieces follow that conversation between ink and water. Others are gouache alone, which has its own way of surprising you.
